Saying that to say it's basically a wrap? The doctor will probably come in tomorrow morning and make the call?

      RIP to my BIL

I have no idea about your BiL. I'm just giving my opinion based on the little info that I have about him.
Poorly controlled diabetics live on the acidotic side so they are better at buffering acid that others, but if he was in cardiac arrest for more than 5-7minutes, then he won't survive...but if he does he will be neurologically devastated.
If it was my family member I would turn off the life support.

The liver function tests and amount of urine he's producing fall into the multi system organ failure aspect of postcardiac arrest syndrome. Google it.

Without a doubt. In my instance, his lips turned blue and that is when my dumbass finally figured out what I needed to do instead of standing there like an idiot.

so the ICU doctor pretty much told the family what they needed to hear. they are going to give him 24 hours and see if he is strong enough to even move down stairs to do CT scan/EEG or whatever, but it sounds like the family is starting to grasp the reality of it.

                  take care of yourselves guys

I sure hate that for y'all. Keeping you in my prayers that God will show you comfort at such a difficult time. He is closest when we are the most brokenhearted. He's liable to show you great things at such a time as this.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
