In 2013 there 4700 fatalities and over 150000 injuries. So you know the governmenr is gonna regulate that at some point.

how about a disable a cell phone while the vehicle is moving feature since i bet the majority of the above instances were caused by inattentiveness.

What would passengers do? Most people probably never use car mode. I don't.

I'm old school. Look out the window, converse with the driver/other passengers, read a book, get a vid player for the kids, etc. The average trip isn't that log to where any one individual can't live without using a phone.
The last time this was brought up people lost their minds when it came to regulating phone use in the car. Arguments like "I'm a good driver. I don't let a 15 car gap happen in front of me when chicken pecking on my cell phone! I use it for work and have to drive and e-mail because __________..."
It's horse shit. I'm sure every one person using a cell phone who caused a crash said the same stupid shit. These deterrents put in place in new cars aren't going to do anything but make the problem worse. People will pay less attention and depend on the car telling them what to do. Back east when I had a soul sucking hour commute each way, without fail every day there was a crash and 99.9% of the time it was a rear end collision. Even saw one stupid fuck rearend a semi. Countless times the oblivious drifting into other lanes/straddling lanes, remaining stopped at a light for several seconds after traffic has moved, when traffic is slow drivers with noses plastered to their phones holding up traffic behind while it's clear in front. The list is endless. When on a bike this shit becomes more personal because the margin for error is dramatically decreased before tragedy.
