§ 37.124. DISRUPTION OF CLASSES. (a) A person commits an
offense if the person, on school property or on public property
within 500 feet of school property, alone or in concert with others,
intentionally disrupts the conduct of classes or other school
    activities.
    (b) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.
    (c) In this section:
    (1) "Disrupting the conduct of classes or other school
    activities" includes:
    (A) emitting noise of an intensity that prevents
    or hinders classroom instruction;
    (B) enticing or attempting to entice a student
away from a class or other school activity that the student is
    required to attend;
    (C) preventing or attempting to prevent a student
from attending a class or other school activity that the student is
    required to attend; and
    (D) entering a classroom without the consent of
either the principal or the teacher and, through either acts of
misconduct or the use of loud or profane language, disrupting class
    activities.
    (2) "Public property" includes a street, highway,
    alley, public park, or sidewalk.
    (3) "School property" includes a public school campus
or school grounds on which a public school is located and any

    school-sponsored activity.

    Added by Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 260, § 1, eff. May 30, 1995.

I'd like to see where the hand gesture falls in this situation.

IMHO, this citation is used WAAAAAY to much as a "catch all" charge.

    That's freaking weak.

I'm assuming if things go the way they are going... you can be charged with rape by looking at a girls ass! (in the next 10 years or so)
      "PSH!!!"

Thanks, Matt. With that being said, I'll be sure to "innocently inquire" about how the crime fits the charge...

Oh i agree your kid is acting like a dumbass and should not have did what he did.

I would have gone nuts at his age with no wheels. I also worked my ass off for my wheels and washed and detailed that sucker ever other day.

Maybe if more kids realized that the things they claim as rights are really privileges then they would act right and not have that sense of entitlement.

                    Nice job!

My poor dumbass cousin thought it would be funny(egged on by his friends) to call in a bomb threat to the school, about 6-7 years ago. He was bi-polar and doesnt have good judgement a lot of times, not a bad kid at all but makes poor choices that pretty much just hurt himself. Ruined pretty much the rest of high school and then some. He was a junior at the time, didnt get to finish school there, and now basically has a record. Its limited in finding work and even finishing school(had to get his GED and its tough for him to try to get into college) Honestly hes a great kid, but one dumb poor choice screwed up a lot of things for him.

Busting your kids ass(figuratively) and making them accountable for their actions really prepares them for life. Kudos!

Though I think the gesture was rather benign, I do appreciate the way your handling it. I think that the consequences are a bit severe, but in today's world, that "pow" could have come from some dumbass gansta that is at least half serious.

Dylan Harris and Eric Klebold put a new face on teen angst and the fear of God into parents and school administrations everywhere. They looked like any other everyday kids you see in any school. Both came from decent families, no criminal backgrounds etc. They are the reason why anyone can and should be taken seriously when such things come about. Obviously Roscoe's kid didn't mean it to that degree, but the idea did enter his mind enough to go through with the action.

The punishment was definetly severe, but it should be. Had Harris and Klebold had much earlier intervention perhaps it may have prevented Columbine. Cuz obviously their threats and little antics weren't taken seriously and gave them time to think about it and get the nerve up to do it.

Sorry, but that is extreme for making a simple hand gesture. People need to lighten up.

That actually would have been a better choice in this case. He'd have been reprimanded, but not quite as severe as what was given.

Which makes me wonder, did he not know that the assistant was in the room?!
