I bought a 3rd Gen 4runner to haul an antique cedar chest to Phoenix. I enjoyed driving it so much I started using it as my daily upon my return to TX.

If it weren't for the gutter, my mind would be homeless.

Inexpensive, reliable cause its a toyota, 33mpg city, 36 highway. Will get out of its own way. Isn't hideous if you get the sedan. A perfect money saver. I'd recommend them to anyone. Run royal purple every 7,500 miles, change the transmission fluid at the dealership for $250 every 100k miles, swap out the coolant for toyota brand coolant purchased at the dealership ever 100k miles. Car will probably never die. Hell even fix it up a little with a bit of sound deadener and a half decent sound system. Get the eibach 1" lowering springs to kill the wheel gap, but still be plenty high enough. Roll yaris until rich enough for newer BMW or caddy or something. Keep yaris as back up car.

I just think they hit the nail on the head with it. It fulfills its purpose in life very well. So many other cars fall far short of this. Which is, to save a lot of money for the owner. Both in buying it, and in driving it. And did I mention it turns like a mofo? So easy to get into all those hard to reach places. Makes me loathe parking my truck.

Only two cars I've both made money on after driving them each a few years are used Honda Civics. An '88 Civic DX 4-speed manual and a '95 Civic LX automatic. Both great cars, drove them a few years, and sold for a profit. That made me happy.

The bottom fell out of Honda resale a few years back. The rise of Kia, low gas prices, and the honda transmission issues have killed the market a bit.

Maybe if you're selling a Honda Passport.

The prices pretty much speak for themselves. 2-3K for 98-04 Civics, few years back you couldn't touch those for less than $4-$6k.

How much are you expecting to get for 15-20 year old Civics that were $15k brand new?

I've had 5 civics this year, all un the 96-98 flavor. During summer months I can pick them up with a non working ac system and a check engine light for $1200 all day for good complete cars. I can put in a new expansion valve and drier and clear a grand in profit.

I only had the black one a week, it had 120k miles and I sold it for $2700 which is top dollar for the civic market.

If gas prices jump over $3.50 a gallon the resale value of a standard transmission civic will jump a grand this summer

Personally id go for an echo over a yaris
