California Pacific Coast Hwy question

I have a trip planned to go from LA to Monterey up the PCH-1 next weekend. A section is closed south of Big Sur due to mudslides and they are getting more rain next week. Is it worth the trip if we do not go north of the road closed section? The purpose of the trip is the PCH.

Your pic isn't working on my phone so maybe I'm missing a joke, but Salinas is inside Monterey county and is a complete shit hole. Many of the areas in the town are minimum 2-3 unit response areas, even the radio techs won't drive a county vehicle in there for fear of being shot at. I spent a couple months working with with MCSO and Salinas PD
