You'll hate the grom IMO just pay a couple grand more for a sumo. You'll love it 2x and won't feel like a retard at stop lights

Thanks for sharing...seriously. I kid you not, every time I begin to consider getting a bike just for the hell of it, I come across a story, usually from someone semi close personally, that has an experience like this. This will get me back on course for about a year or so, then I'll think about it again...

i wish i would have had friends that rode dirt bikes back then, i have had so much more fun on dirt than the street. of course i have spent a couple of weeks in the hospital due to crashes on both, but i still have my dirt bikes.

although, i want a grom. i want a grom real bad.
I just looked those up...are those some kind of new 4wd bike? What's with the fender "gap"

It's just a street legal pit bike, 125cc 4 stroke. I've ridden them plenty, and it's like banging a fat chick.. you'll get your jollies but don't want to be seen with it. They struggle to run 70mph at WOT on flat land and are even worse on any sort of incline

I used to ride a LOT.
Had a bike for a daily when I was stationed in Lubbock (mid 80's), had a bike as a daily when stationed in Austin (1998-1991).
Moved to Oregon, rode it all over N. Cali, Oregon and WA.
Rode it to Anchorage from Grants Pass in July 1992.
Moved back to Austin 1994 and it was my daily until an engine problem made me buy a car.

I've been on Fort Worth FD for almost 20 years, and I've worked some pretty ugly fatality motorcycle wrecks. Some the fault of the rider, some not.
There is no way I would ride in the DFW area.
I still miss having a bike like only riders would understand, but NOPE.

I had a friend of mine that was a competitive dirt bike racer. He was in a race about 6-7 years ago and another guy decided to cheat the route and backtrack part of the path. They had a head on collision with each of them going about 70mph. It laid him up in a hospital for a few months, and the other guy was hurt even worse.

I'm just about to be 40, so my motorcycle days (I never had any to begin with) are behind me.

Yes there are more than a few paralyzed and dead off-road guys. I really just don't ride street anymore to much and went back to four wheels for the wife and I off-road. She even has a cage. This is also why my newly acquired Electra is not being soloed out and will be sold fairly cheap. Every time I ride my Shovel into town some asshole tries to run me over. Fucking cell phones and tablets in cars are going to be the death of the two wheel industry.

It's really starting to get bad. I'm noticing more and more people leaving their lanes, leaving huge gaps, going way under the speed limit, and nearly every time when I get close to them I see they are looking at their phone. Drives me fucking insane. I can understand looking at it occasionally but these people are fucking surfing the web in rush hour traffic.

I've posted it here before, but I would love to have a street bike to cruise occasionally, but yeah, no thanks around the city. I also really miss having endless desert to ride dirtbikes in. I would buy a dirtbike now in a heartbeat, if there was a decent amount of public land anywhere near here to go riding.

I rode with a co-worker to lunch one time.. as soon as we get in the car he grabs his phone and starts watch youtube videos. I made him cut that shit out quick. It's like they don't understand how much destruction a 4,000lb missile can cause when piloted by a dumb ass.

Fucking youtube? LMAO! Jesus, I really just don't understand what goes through people's head!

I have always been against cell phone while driving bans, but I'm starting to really see why they are getting popular.

I just don't know what's so god damn important that people need to be on their phones immediately when they walk out of somewhere. One of my Officers came in last night and had I left my patrol phone and cell phone on my desk for hours. She was like, how do you do that? Easyyyyyyyyyy. People can call 911, and I have my radio if dispatch needs me! Hell and I was at work, I can show up if it sounds good. Before I had minions to guide and mentor at night I would just leave my phone in the living room a lot of the times.

That's about the dumbest reason to buy a bike unless you really want to die.
