  • wife bought a school bus, powered by propane, questions

Wife says you have everything, I don't have any projects of my own, and I want a school bus. She found one, a shorter one (23') runs/drives, powered by propane. I've driven it around the block, not much else.

What do I need to know about a propane powered vehicle?

She wants me to build a bunch of seating/bedding/tables, etc. It came without the seats and had an engineered wood floor in it but she's already pulled that out, it was low rent. We don't camp much, but we do go to the Old Settler's Music Fest in the spring, so instead of taking the pop-up this year, looks like we'll be taking "Bernice".

It takes a considerable amount more propane(LPG)per mile than gasoline, but it's a much lower emission fuel.

I've always heard that oil at 3k miles looks new, as propane does not produce carbon like a carbed gasoline engine. I've never run one though.

In honor of the forum...you are saying your wife likes the short bus?

That would explain the oil. I checked it and it looked brand new, I was shocked. LOL, she said it gets 12 mpg. I said "your Denali XL gets 12mpg, my truck gets 13mpg, I seriously doubt this bus gets 12mpg. Probably 12gpm."

How do I refill this thing?

              I'm sorry.

Pm me if needed. Would this happen to be a blue bird bus?

Take it anywhere they sell bulk propane, I think.

Propane is about $2.25 a gallon right now. Id ditch it for a gas motor.
