selling of the debt to another collector will reset the clock tho, actually it will create an entirely new debt cycle for the newly reported debt.

You could have the original debt fall off in 7 years, and still see the collectors on your credit report

      Start here
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

The FCRA covers this as well. The only thing that resets the SOL is payment or a promise to pay. SOL on a lawsuit is 4 years.

Now...they can keep calling and mailing and calling and mailing for the rest of your life, as there are people that purchase out of Statute debts.

If they don't respond to your dispute you're fine, and whatever you disputed should be removed. If they do respond to your dispute, you just reset the last activity on the account to the date that you disputed it.
Only thing that will reset the 7 year clock is giving them money.

I clean credit, 750.00.... Cheap and it works. I went from not being able to finance a stick of gum with a dollar down to getting 4.5% on my house. It does work, and it's a pain in the ass, no matter what anyone says to do it your self. Shoot me a pm for more info

A friend of mine used to "fix" credit. It only works for things that SHOULD NOT be on there.. You can't foreclose a house or have a repo'd car and wave a magic stick to get a 750.

Keep these in mind if you decide to go the pay someone route:

Disputing to the bureaus as an individual usually doesn't do jackshit expect waste your time. If you have derogatory and/or collection trade lines on your report that are over 7 years old , contact an attorney that handles these kinds of cases and have them put the fear of a couple hundred thousand dollar lawsuit in them. Trust me, I did this last year and the shit disappeared from all 3 reports and I got some money to boot for my time and headache of a fucked up FICO because of some crooked fuckers.

                      This is who I used.
More than 25 years' experience. I have filed more than 1000 lawsuits against debt collectors that have resulted in a judgment in favor of my client or a settlement for my client.

It is definitely not a waste of time. I filed bankruptcy back in '97 which would stay on for 10 years. By disputing it every year I had it removed from one of the reporting agencies within 5 years and another within 7. Unfortunately one the agencies stayed on the ball for the 10. But it helped with applying at companies that did not use that one agency at the time.

Not true. Depends on who you use. I use/used Lexington Law Firm and was able to get 3 items removed from my credit report so far, that were my accounts.

Exactly, ANYTHING can be removed from a credit report as long as your are persistant enough. Especially here in Texas where the laws are in favor of the little guy (us).
