I did some work at Pantex as a contractor back in the late seventies. Then you had to drive up and park in this little lot by the gate. You had to go into a little hut for credential check and wait. Meanwhile a couple of guys would go over your car with a fine tooth comb, then you were allowed to pass thru the gate.
Back then electronic ignition and electronic spark control was a fairly new thing. First time I went - I was driving a brand new Lincoln. When I started the car, it triggered some sort of alarm, it started whooping, and guys came out of nowhere. The guard that was with us just started shaking his head. He said something in the Ford ignition module would set off one of their alarms.
I made sure I drove an old car whenever I had to visit in the future.
