SVOs... They're like an ex girlfriend. After some time, we forget how the wiring was mangled, how leaky the seals were and how beat up the suspension was... we remember how good it looked and how quick it was (when it ran worth a shit) and want to give it another spin.

After I cleaned up the grounds and replaced the rubber coolant hoses, mine was as reliable as most other fox mustangs were. Well, until I upped the boost to the moon and blew up the turbo.

Mine was an 85 and the wiring was shit. Literally had the plastic wire sheathing on the engine and injector harness crumbling. If I ever bought another SVO, it would get 2 things: Esslinger aluminum head and a Painless harness. That would fix 98% of all SVO problems.

I still want another one. I almost bought one last month too. If the right one were to come along I suppose I could sell some gold and silver to buy it. I look every few months too. I want a decent one for $5 or less to play with and enjoy. I don't want a museum piece. I don't want a piece of dog poo either like many I see for sale.

So are leather seats that have always been in the plastic and never conditioned going to be dried out?

I miss my 86 SVO. It was nothing but trouble til I got rid of it. Then it went like 6 months with zero issues. I will have another one day.

I would love to have a clean '85-86 Thunderbird TurboCoupe. If anyone knows of one, shoot me a link.

I'd V8 swap it the first weekend of course, I learned my lesson on the 2.3T.

Agreed. A good way to ruin a great car.

It doesn't have to be stock, just clean!

I promise to sell any hot rod turbo-4 parts to someone that doesn't know any better.
