Looking to trade in the 12 F150 (still paying on it). I'm looking into 2013-2015 F250's Diesels.

Two questions since I haven't done this in a while. If I got an extended warranty plan with my F150 when I got it, how will this come off the pay off amount? will the warranty company send me a check for that? Or will the bank handle that and subtract the amount off the payoff amount?

Also any negatives about the 6.7? I use to own a 7.3 and it never had any issue. Looking to buy in the next month or so.

    Thanks fellas!

6.7's are great motors, but still need to be deleted.

The warranty company should write you a check for the un-used portion of the warranty that still remains as long as you got a refundable one when you purchased it.

And, if you are buying new, don't worry about any deletes until the warranty is up. The day it is then I'd delete it.

I would, however, keep every single fuel receipt you get in case of fuel contamination. I've seen stories where the high pressure pump fails and Ford blames it on fuel contamination even though the owner claims no issues. If you do get some bad fuel bring attention to it immediately. A classic sign would be that the truck starts fine when cold and runs pretty good, but won't start when hot.

Thanks! How do I know it its been deleted? what exactly does that mean? sorry for my ignorance on the topic. What kind of warranty does for offer on these things? Really haven't looked into all that yet

My brother in law had nothing but issues with his 2013 6.7L F250. Electrical bugs, followed by PCM failure. I've been reading about other people with the same issues. Oh and ford REALLY doesn't want to fix them under warranty.

I wouldn't rely on the bank to handle anything. Look at your warranty and read the terms. Also check for gap insurance. If you buy from a dealer that sells that extended warranty they might be able to include any refunds on the deal, otherwise you'll probably need to cancel it yourself and if the lien is paid off you'll get a check.

Have you looked at the new F-250's? With the prices of used trucks, the discounts on 2016's is ridiculous now!

Deleting would be removal of the DPF and EGR. If it was deleted at any point it will likely still be deleted. The emissions equipment really kills the longevity of all the new diesels. I do not think there is a new diesel being produced today that is as solid as the 7.3. 2011 + F250's/ 350's with the 6.7 come close, however, and all the people who were holding onto the 7.3s are finally jumping ship and moving to the 6.7's. That is why you can get the 7.3s very cheap now. Hell, I just saw a CCSB 4x4 7.3 F250 with under 200k miles for less than 10k today. 2 years ago it would have been a 14k + truck.

I have not heard of any widespread serious issues with the 6.7 truck and the interior/ ride is super nice if you go for a lariat or platinum edition. Anyone here that saws otherwise just had some bad luck. You can go on the Facebook pages and no matter if it is the 7.3, 6.4, 6.7, etc. page, everyone says to go 6.7. I'll be making the move soon as well. I only drive my trucks 4k miles a year so I figure I'll go with a low mile one and be done. I've currently got a 6.4 and it runs great, love the truck, and especially the power, but everyday I get in it I say a little prayer hoping I won't need to buy a 10k motor.

I love my 6.7. I'm at 50k miles and have had zero issues. By far the best and most comfortable truck I've owned. It hauls well and makes for a good daily.

So yeah everyone is asking how much for your truck because they know the dealer is going to screw you on trade in.

You're going to ask pay off amount which is probably over 24k and they are going to give you 16k and roll over your negative equity in a new truck at the same payment rate at a higher interest rate

So I'm not sure what question you're actually looking to answer.

Depending on miles he will get more than 16k.
