Just to kill some time as the girlfriend takes a nap in the cabin and I sit outside by the fire. I will vent. Why does hyundai not give spare tires. Why do you have to buy a spare tire KIT. I had a feeling I had to to ask the girlfriend a few weeks ago if she had a spare tire. Well she did not know but she did check the other day and she does not. She has a emergency pump KiT no spare tire. Why does hyundai not give spare tires. Bull shit. Bad part her twin sister has a hyundai too and no spare tire. There goes $400

Because a large number of people don't know how to change the tire/wheel anyway. So my guess is some bean counter put out a figure on how much the company would save by not putting a spare in each vehicle. Example was probably, each spare cost the company $30 and we sell 500,000 cars so that would save us $15,000,000 a year.

Kia does the same thing. I just helped my daughter buy a new Kia soul and I was shocked to find out that it didn't come with a spare and I had to buy one if I wanted her to have one.
I figure it's a way for them to chisel a little more profit out of the sale of each car.

Most new cars don't have spare tires anymore. As mentioned they do it for weight savings and to increase trunk capacity, or they will have the battery in the trunk.
Most of the time its a cigarette outlet powered air pump with a can of goo in your trunk

I bet 35-40% of people have no idea what a scissor jack is. Even more have no clue where to place the jack to properly lift the vehicle. I have seen people use the rocker panel, just the flat area of the floor board, the seat bolts and even saw a guy in a parking lot had driven his flat up on the jack and was going to lift his car that way. I had to ask him, "how do you plan to get the wheel/tire off if you are lifting the car with it?". He looked like I was insulting him and asked if I had a better suggestion. Lol
