  • Help With Cool Artwork

I bought my first house a little over a year ago. I'm 32, single & need some cool artwork for my walls. Do any of you guys know of some places online to get some bad ass stuff to help decorate my house? Stripper pole is already on my list. I always have friends over on the weekends to consume mass quantities of alcohol. Not looking for something over the top. Maybe something you wish you could put up on the walls but the wife won't let you. HaHa... I'll post a few pics of my living area where we hang out the most.

This is when you walk in.

Still no table for my dinning room but working on it.

This is where I spend a lot of time if I am not in the garage.

Front door & dinning room to the right.

Well as you can see I have a lot of wall space & high ceilings. I plan on changing the color in the dinning room as soon as I get the table. Other than that I have no idea on how to decorate this house. So any advice or input would be great!

Surrealism art is always cool, or vintage type advertisements/art.

I went through the same thing a couple years ago. I really got into the abstract art. I ended up finding a lady that I really liked her work and the prices were smoking for what you got. Luckily she ended up being local. She let me drive out to her house where she had a whole house full of paintings. I ended up buying 1 3 panel piece, 1 5 panel piece and a 1 panel. You should check her out.

I have not contacted her in the last year but I am sure she is still doing great work.

What is your price range? Do you want "real" art or just decor?

On the cheap side: Garden Ridge, Aaron Brothers, Michaels, etc.

On the not so cheap, I've seen it go to the stratosphere....but I can give you some contacts if you want. PM me.

Also, you might want to consider lowering your art a bit. Most museums and collectors prefer to hang at a 60" center, basically meaning that from the ground to the center of the image is 60". If you're short or tall, you can raise or lower 2 - 3 inches and it'll still be comfortable.

I'm friends with Some local artists if you're interested. You're going to pay out the ass though. I'm actually trying to buy my first "real" piece and am completely expecting a $2500ish price.

I'm not 100% sure because I'm only wearing one shoe right now.
