Has anyone refinanced their student loans to a private lender?

My loans are still with the .gov and I pay more in interest each month than I do in principle.

I'm wondering if refinancing would be a beneficial option. I am planning to have them paid off in the next 3-4 years, throwing all of my extra income at them and trying to decide if the benefit of dropping 2-3 points in interest is worth the hassle over that time span.

I refinanced with Darien Rowayton Bank (DRB) last year. Lowered my rate substantially (~2%) and was a pretty painless process relatively speaking.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
