  • abrasive blaster cabinet

Does anyone here have one of those abrasive cabinets from Harbor Freight or Northern Tool? I've been looking at buying one but they all seem to operate at the 80-90 psi. I will need to get it down to 40-50 psi on occasion as well as the higher psi.

Hoping to get user feedback before buying one. Is it as simple as a gun change to get the lower pressure?

I have one that I ordered on amazon, I just adjust the pressure on my compressor to what I need it to be.
Here is the one I have, the silicone has come off on mine and the light burned out after a while. The bulbs are impossible to find unless you order from them so I replaced it with an led strip for the same price. It works and is decent but if you are going to use it a lot i would step up to a better one.

I've got one of those large Harbor Freight versions... it works just fine, but my weak ass small compressor can't keep up...

Do either of you know what the lowest psi has been that you've used? I plan on using it on polymer and composite parts so that's the reason for 40-50 psi.

I thought about just lowering the psi on my compressor but I wasn't sure if that would still allow the media to be picked up by the gun. I may run into the same issue with the compressor keeping up. I have a 55 gallon HD brand but it's the electric motor type.

I have run mine at 50-60 for composite stuff and it worked fine. I use 120grit aluminum oxide in it. My compressor is smaller than that, I just let it run and work fast. When I see that the media is not working as well anymore I just wait for the compressor to recharge. I thought about a larger compressor but for the amount I use it I couldn't justify it.

My compressor is set at 100 psi and it doesn't take long for it to drop off to 60ish when using the cabinet.... mine stops flowing media and I have to let it catch back up. I have to work fast or spend all day waiting on the pressure to build back up.

I have one from HF i think (been years since i bought it) and run it at full psi all the time with no issues, just use a inline regulator and it should be fine.

I've got one of these, worked fine, never use it though, maybe two times, $100 if anyone wants it.

Any chance you ever make your way to Dallas or 635/75 area?? I'd be interested, just don't want to drive out to Royce City.

Just to be a bro and help out if possible. I'm through RC daily and my wife works at 75/635(fossil) If you two want to work a deal I'm sure we could arrange getting it shipped gratis.

I work in Irving but my truck is down at the moment, how quickly do you need it?

That is awfully nice of you, I don't want to inconvenience you, I will try to get it worked out, thank you!

No joke, that's awesome of you to offer up like that!

I'm not in too big of a hurry. I still need to order paint colors and supplies, the media, and then clear out garage space. When do you think you'll be back up? I actually take 75>635>35 south so that'll probably work.

It's not really a huge deal, I could swing by after work one day and have the wife drive my truck to work the next.

It's on the table if needed.
