The wife and I are staying in Ft Worth tonight and looking for a good place to eat. Looking for recommendations.

We are much more familiar with the night life there than we are the dining!

We are staying at the Rennaisance and going to the Whiskey Girl for a show. We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary with a mini get away. It isn't quite the island getaway we originally planned, but a 4 month old changes things!

H3 seems to be the common denominator so far. I used to work with the woman that did a lot of the upholstry there.

I haven't eaten at many places downtown, but the Flying Saucer has good food and lots of beer. Also Unos has always been fantastic.

We will be in the stockyards area.

The wife has trouble with heavy smoke flavor. So we need to try and avoid steakhouses that have a heavy wood smoke flavor in their meat. This came about during her pregnancy and hasn't really gone away

H3 or Lonesome Dove are within walking distance of Whiskey Girl. The bar at H3 is pretty nice as well. Neither are cheap though!

Personally I'd uber to downtown and hit up the regular Del Frisco's, Grace, Ruths Chris, Reatta or even the Bobs first but the other two places are in the same league. Unless you are a real baller then head to the Fort Worth club and have a meal with Richard Childress, Ross Perot and the Bass brothers.

If you do go to the bar at H3 order an Anitarita (margarita with jalapeño) they are damn good.

Or if you want cheap but really good go to the Love Shack for a burger and some beers.

It seems like H3 is where we are planning to go. Our plan is to drive down and eat, drive back to the hotel, clean up and change for the Jamie Richards show at the Whiskey Girl and then Uber into the stock yards.

And motherfucker. I didn't realize this was NASCAR weekend until you mentioned Richard Childress.
