If that's truly what the job requires, and the salary supports that, then either you accept it, or put your resume out there, and do something different.

Life is full of assholes and potentially uncomfortable situations, how they affect you mentally and emotionally is your choice. Most times their attitude is a direct reflection of themselves, and has little to nothing to do with anything you've done.

Yeah all my RO folks are wanting me to come back. I told them helllll no. I run patrol down here, my Captain is a guy I share similar philosophy's with, and worked with 8 years, and all of these guys get along. Plus the captain's selling point to me was "Remember all those assholes that ruined departments and destroyed moral? Well we learned from that and know what not to do and kill morale". Lol last Monday was one of the worst days ever. Can't even type that shit out on a cell phone.

Seeing as most of the business the next few months is going to be in Midland/Odessa, it is time to think about what you want to do. This industry gets to you, when things are going you are busy as shit, when you slow you are busier since they get rid of all of your help. I took my first day off from not working on Saturday in 4 weeks. Been 65-70 hour weeks for a lot of this year.

But when I look around I have a well paying job, nice house, and happy family. I am not off in a third-world country for months at a time, have my health, and know it will be hard to make the amount of money I do elsewhere. So I suck it up and make sure to make each day my bitch.

I'm getting older and working around the clock just doesn't have the same appeal as it used to.... worrying about stuff I can't control doesn't appeal to me very much either.

These days I kind of have a "zen" outlook toward stressful stuff. I can only do what I can do and what doesn't get done today most likely can wait until tomorrow. When I do need to push through and work extra to get something done I can do it but I try to minimize that crap as much as possible.

The stroke I had in 2010 helped me to realize that I only have so much time before the big dirt nap and making myself sick worrying about stuff just isn't a good use of the time I have left.

I feel for you guys that are living on the edge with stress and worry - it's a rough place to be.

Funny, my job has sucked for about two weeks now. I think the downturn is just about over, or so I hope.

We had the roof of our house replaced a week and a half ago and that caused about 30lbs of oily asphalt/dust to fall from the ceiling. The full explanation is a long story, but suffice to say we've been cleaning that crap up ever since.

I did pay the car off. And I did get married. So I'll stop bitchin.

I quit my job 3 weeks ago (after working my two weeks notice as a courtesy) and it's been the best 3 weeks of the past 10 years since I started that job.

I was burned out and tired of all the BS and lack of appreciation. Not being on the same page with the rest of the management team either. I had been living beneath my means for a long time now, so I was in a position to just walk. I'll land somewhere else when I'm ready due to my experience.

Anyway, keep your chin up and don't take any shit. Put yourself in a position to leave, if possible, and always be looking for better opportunities. 99% of companies and top management only care about themselves. Make sure you do the same. It's sad it has to be that way, but it typically is.

Just put in my 2 weeks notice, and it actually feels really really good. VP said he completely understands, offered to put his name behind me and recommend me for anything I choose to go do, and even apologized for not handling things better and letting stuff get to this point.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Congratulations on taking it by the horns. How much time are you going to take off before looking around?

I just got back to work in Africa 2 days ago...it has been very hard to not put in my notice but only because I miss my family do I feel this way.

You got up this morning, you are in relatively good health, fuck all that shit you can change. My friend just had both breasts removed due to breast cancer and she is positive as ^&%#. She almost died laughing when I told her they could take some foreskin off her husband and make nipples with it, thus he could suck his own @#@$.

Life is about perspective. Quit your job, do something else, find your chi boys. At the beginning of the year I was absolutely fucking tired of the politics at my job in R.O. I was also 90k in debt above what I owed on my house so I was kind of stuck. I sold allllllll of my toys and my FX4. I will be debt free other than my house next week and have re acquired plenty of smaller priced toys. I also changed departments to a town of 2500 people that is growing fast. I only took a chance after being recruited because I killed my debt. My wife said I could be her house %^$## anytime I wanted so it is a nice option to have. I will say though my new department has zero drama and it is kind of nice being the man! Well, Johnson County is full of crazy ^&%$S apparently, but we only have to assist with those occasionally.
