Try two years straight. I got my ass kicked in every way possible in 14 and 15. Physically, emotionally, and financially. This year I managed to turn some of this shit around.

All BS aside, I sucked up the doubt/fear/what-ifs and quit my job of 9 1/2 years and took a new one. The wife is 7 months pregnant and I left a lot of seniority and perks on the table with my ID badge and laptop when I went. Best damn thing I've done for my mental health in ages. Do what's best homie.Originally posted by PGreenCobraI can't get over the fact that you get to go live the rest of your life, knowing that someone made a Halloween costume out of you. Just found out I'm going to get 2 to 4 more weeks in no beer land before the end of the year..... Could impact my daughters, mine birthdays and holidays and already scheduled vacation. All because the client can't gather the info I need to do my job fast enough. Fun......

I'm at the tipping point at my job as well. Lots of little things, but mostly not feeling appreciated for all the shit I do here. 24/7 handling 110 System Engineers/8 managers, and 63 customers (Doing a Director level job, without the title, pay, or benefits).
Work/Life balance doesn't exist. I feel like my work phone is an extension of my body, because there's no way I can be without it for more than 5 min without some major problem happening and by responding to it quickly I can usually manage out the fire. I can't even go to dinner with my wife without having to check email/take a call.
Otherwise the rest of my life is good, no real issues outside of the 60-80 hours a week of work.

Man I feel ya. The last 3 months have been really tough with work. I have a great boss (me), but small business ownership is stressful as balls. Big picture is good, and I love the people I work with. Nobody, including myself, is paid what they're worth but the idea is that we get over this challenging time and fix that. I'm just tired of waiting.

This month, as well as last, have been a bit of a kick in the nuts. My company made some changes, though they sounded good, turned out to not work, and we lost money. Since I'm commission only, that meant my check has been down. I had a meeting "with the bobs" so to speak scheduled, but it was canceled last minute. Turned out, the bigwigs figured out that the changes weren't working, and canned the guy that implemented them. So they are working on righting the wrongs, but a lot of damage was done. Ive made more every year ive been here, but I dont know if Ill break even this year.
combine that with a slow side gig that is my racing/car stuff fund, and ive been pinching pennies. Luckily it's picking up a bit."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford

Here is my theory on this.
You got up this morning, you are in relatively good health, fuck all that shit you can change. My friend just had both breasts removed due to breast cancer and she is positive as ^&%#. She almost died laughing when I told her they could take some foreskin off her husband and make nipples with it, thus he could suck his own @#@$.
Life is about perspective. Quit your job, do something else, find your chi boys. At the beginning of the year I was absolutely fucking tired of the politics at my job in R.O. I was also 90k in debt above what I owed on my house so I was kind of stuck. I sold allllllll of my toys and my FX4. I will be debt free other than my house next week and have re acquired plenty of smaller priced toys. I also changed departments to a town of 2500 people that is growing fast. I only took a chance after being recruited because I killed my debt. My wife said I could be her house %^$## anytime I wanted so it is a nice option to have. I will say though my new department has zero drama and it is kind of nice being the man! Well, Johnson County is full of crazy ^&%$S apparently, but we only have to assist with those occasionally.Whos your Daddy?

I agree with KingJason, it's all about stress management in most cases. This is presuming that you have a decent income, and a somewhat entertaining job, then all the "negatives" boil down to perception. To a point, even working 70-80 hours a week is a choice, if you aren't willing to bitch to management for help, then it's on you. If that's truly what the job requires, and the salary supports that, then either you accept it, or put your resume out there, and do something different.
Life is full of assholes and potentially uncomfortable situations, how they affect you mentally and emotionally is your choice. Most times their attitude is a direct reflection of themselves, and has little to nothing to do with anything you've done.

You are right Jason, while finding a job may be difficult, don't let it consume you, move on to something else. There is always a better job or a way to make a living doing something you enjoy. Networking is your friend and with all this social media, you can always find a better or less stressful job.Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.
