As much as I respect and defend the PD, this is actually my experience in most urban and suburban areas, as well.

I love shooting the shit with people. I know so many people in my town. Even in Lancaster, where we were hoping all the time I knew a lot of people. I also did a lot of shit before getting into LE so I have a wide range of topics to choose from.

Most cops stick to themselves because a lot of people don't get cop humor due to be desensitized to a lot of shit. To watch someone liberal (My niece), at a pool party full of cops is hilarious. She ignores us mostly and is a good sport though.

I understand that in an area such as Dallas that encompasses a large area it is not feasible to do foot patrols. But in major cities where things are closer together and the majority of transportation is public or foot it is feasible.

I'm not lumping you guys into my statement, from what I've read over the years you guys are the good guys that do your job fairly and expect a fair shake. But with today's media influence not everyone has the same perception and accessibility to the good cop stories as we do here.

I'm stating all this as my observations of what I've seen in and around the area between Greenville and Rockwall.

The PD's love to park next to each other and shoot the shit, but the only time I see interaction with the public is to issue a speeding ticket.

I've been on ride alongs, my two cousins are PD in Euless/Bedford, the wife's cousin is Rockwall Sheriff, his step-father was Greenville PD, another cousin used to be DPD, but is now in Addison.

You guys gotta get your PR sorted out and start weeding the herd, or it's only going to get worse. Regardless of the truth, the perception is flawed.
