  • Buying my first house

I've been looking for a good deal on a house that has at least .5 acre of land on it. A nice houe for a good price too. Well I finially found it. This house was built in the mid 80's it sits on an acre of land and is 2400sqft. The only bad part is that it doesn't have a garage, but that isn't a big deal because I'm going to be building a shop in the back. Here is a link. It is the 3rd house down. Just click on pic and it will show all the rest.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but go in with eyes wide open.
The third house looks like brick and mortar to me.

          FreighTrain would never go manufactured.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

Thats worse than buying a car as far as depreciation goes.

Looks like it has great potential. And I particularly like where it states the seller wants to see some offers... good luck!

If I could get something like that out here for the same money I would be all over it. That house is nicer and a little larger than mine on 4 times the land and I paid more than that. Makes me want to live in DFW.

Good looking house, but electric heat will suck in the winter. Also, be sure to ask for a better copy of the survey that has a seal on it if you're planning on financing the house (lender requirement).

But "it gives such a vast view of the room".

                    (I don't agree, that's just what they've told me).

Dan, that looks really nice! Good price too - Wonder if they will drop another 10k or so, so you can have some money to put towards the shop fund.

I have a friend that lives out that way.

I would check the local city/county building codes for the shop first. When the ex and I bought our house on .92 acre I thought I would be able to build a steel building. Come to find out that if the building was over 200 sq ft, it had to be 80% masonry.
