  • Lease return question - damage

So the Leaf is finally leaving my life soon. In preparation to send it home, I've noticed a half-dozen minor hail dings in the roof and one larger one on the hatch.

1: How bad are they gonna kill me at the dealership for these?
2: Worth having it fixed berfore turning it in?
3: Any downside if my insurance pays for it? (Like would it hit carfax or something and become an issue?)

Thanks y'all. I've never dealt with a leased car so, new territory.

Don't know about your particular situation, but I can tell you they overlook a lot of stuff if you're getting another car from them..

I had a Honda lease once and they sent me a piece of paper with a hole cut out slightly larger than a quarter that said "if the dent is smaller than this, don't worry about it." Maybe you can find something similar.

I'd pay the couple hundred to PDR. I had a board member replace the entire side of an f150 I crushed in that was on a lease. Obv. Never showed on car fax or anything. Paid cash. Never heard a word.

            God bless.

Take it up for an inspection before you return it and then go from there. No sense in wasting money if they don't notice. Is it silver?

White. Dings are hard to see but there if you're really looking.

It may be also ok with the wear and tear part of the policy if light enough. I have given many estimates on lease cars, I tell them to go get it inspected before I fix it and rarely ever see the people back.

                    .

We turned in a lease, they do look over everything, wheels, tires, body, interior, under hood, they do look for all kinds of wear and tear. I would get a PDR guy to fix the dents and give it a good clean and be done with it. These days they will charge you and they do inspect, throughley.

Also you can run off this sheet for an idea on the cost.

We just traded in our Ford Edge. It had a few things that I was worried would get hit with. Hell the wind caught the drivers door and it flew open into a concrete light post. It hit perfectly on the edge of the door and folded it in a 1/4". I knocked it our with a dead blow hammer and I am by no means a body guy. Not a word was said. It needed tires, they didn't mention them either.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

This story exemplifies why, after I started making choo$$$choo$$$ money, I've only bought new instead of bothering with someone else's often damaged goods.
