We have the 2.5L 4 pot and we get 35mpg on the hwy & 28 city.

From what I gather for 2017 there is a 1.5 EB, 2.0 EB and 2.5L N/A. The 2.0 EB can be had with AWD as well.

The Sport gets the 2.7 V-6 EB in AWD only. This thing is a beast, 325hp/380tq are the numbers I'm seeing, it should give the SHO's are run for their money.
What type of fuel do you use? I have the 2.0L ecoboost. When I first got it I would average 28ish MPGS. Now it's down to 23MPGS and I've not changed anything.

Just 87 octane, I did make a run to S.A. last year and we had 4 ppl and a trunk full of luggage, I ran 93 the entire time and my MPG did suffer, but for any other time all around driving it gets is 87.
Mine is at 80k miles and I just did plugs, oil (full Syn), oil/air filter and some Lucas FI cleaner. It was getting a steady 32/35 mpg to Austin and the hill country...

How many miles do you have? Have you changed the plugs?

He's right, plugs on those EB motors can get soot'd pretty good. I would stay on top of the factory air filters too, that turbo eats a lot of air.
My son's ST with the 2.0 EB, he did the plugs at 30k miles and they looked pretty sad. He probably could have cleaned them and re-installed but I think he went with a colder NGK plug.

That's interesting about the plugs. I'm pretty sure I would get the 2.0 or 2.7 EB, because why not? Plus I want AWD for a change. I don't really put many miles on, but that could change.

My girl friends 2015 edge sport has the 2.7 ecoboost she avg 24mpg 75 mph. If she drops the speed to 65 it goes up to 27 mpg.

I drive so little I would run out the warranty by date long before mileage, so I don't really care about fuel economy. Which is the downside; I have a mental block about spending money on a car. I think about it every 6 months or so. But my 2003 Mercury now needs the headlight safety recall and no one seems to have the part to fix it, so it makes it a bitch to drive at night. Plus the suspension leaks and the stereo hasn't worked in a few years. I think it may be getting time to have it put down for quality of life reasons.

You sound like a good candidate for some middle ground: 2-3 year old CPO.

I'd take a look at them and see what they look like.

Hopefully it's not carbon build up already....direct injection engines tend to do that unfortunately.

That's what I intend, maybe not that old.

I noticed the BMW 7-series really dropped in value fast, and I like the ergonomics, but I heard from multiple people that they are expensive rolling disasters which is why they drop so fast.

Is it because of all the alky in the gas these days? Or is DI just not quite there yet?

Any turbo or SC car is going to foul plugs faster than NA, because they require more fuel, but I know that turbo cars are notorious for fouling plugs.
