  • 2016 GMC/Chevy Silverado or 2016 F150?

I have driven chevy trucks for 15 years now, probably had 10 in the last 15 years, never any real issues, but I am getting the itch to get something different this time. A buddy got an F150 and having ridden around in it for lunch twice now I am really considering the new F150. Here is the current one I have for reference, but between the new Silverado/Sierras and the F150, which would you choose as a daily driver? (FYI I dont tow that much that's very heavy)

like the looks of this F150

They are both so good now, it's just personal preference and which one has the better deals going at the time. Historically, I've preferred the slightly more engaging feel of the GM trucks versus Ford. I think it's the steering. The Ford steering has been very numb and the GM trucks have seemed to drive a little 'smaller' and more nimbly.

Anyway, can't go wrong with either one. Drive them both and try to work a deal. Get the best one.

    GM
    Toyota

        Either.

I'd own a new Ford, Chevy, or Ram but will probably get another GM this time because I love the new interior.

Drive em both and get what you like. Can't go wrong in my opinion.

If I get to the point where a new truck makes sense, I'll be buying an F-150.

I just bought this one, 2015 with hardly any miles on it. Lariat 601 A package. Love the ride and feel of the truck. You have to go up to the 601-B package to get the LED lights and the navi-option. Almost 7k more. The only thing I did not like was the illumination of the halogen lights. Weak as hell, so I installed 8k lumens LED bulbs with ballasts -- weak light problem solved. Great truck and I am happy to be back in one.

Oh and this one has the 5.0 motor. I drove the turbo sixes (eco-boost) and the 5.0 has way more low end torque.

I think most of the new fords are ugly, some of them look great though, like in the OP pic posted. That being said, I don't care too much about the looks, more about the build, the fords have the best powertrain, and the interior is the best IMO, the new chevy interior is still cheap feeling IMO. I would buy a ford.

Wait for the 2017 F150, they are getting the 10 speed auto.

I still don't know if I would buy a Ram, but I recently rode in a buddy's new ecodiesel and that is a sweet truck. Rides better than the Ford & Chevy trucks and his was pretty much fully loaded, not sure what trim level...

All the new trucks are really close these days. I like fords, but I wish the upper trims didn't have a console gear shift. I like the Chevy and Rams for all the extra storage you get on the console.

oh yea? When do the 2017's hit the lots? Do F150's have the 8 speed now?

Late 2016 I'm guessing, Ford is always slow when rolling out the new model year trucks for some reason.

They currently have a 6 speed auto, still a great transmission though.

I was looking for a 2015 <15k just this weekend on Auto Trader and noticed that Ram's were consistently $11k less (avg) than Ford or Chevy. Also looking I noticed that I could pick up a new Dodge or Chevy for less than a Ford.

I like the Ford quality, Chevy' interior styling and Dodge pricing...so yeah, I will just sit back and deal with no car payment until I can make up my mind.

Ecoboost all the way. Chevy is the lowest hp full size truck on the market. And I am a chevy guy too
