As a part of a divorce settlement, the paying parent may have to continue supporting a child through college, or the parents can agree to share college expenses.

After hearing this, I'm glad I am able to pay it myself. I have bill pay set up and it's on autopilot. It just goes to the AG, who then forwards it to the ex. Screw payroll deduction.

Most definitely man! I got custody of my daughter last year, I set up everything for AG to get my daughters mom setup on child support. I had a court date a few months ago, I showed up and mom didn't and I was told since she didn't show they needed to reschedule to give her time to appeal.

A few months later, back at another court date... I show up and mom isn't there. Now I'm told they found out mom is in jail and I need to redo everything once her mom is out. Apparently they have a problem setting up a child support obligation if the mother isn't there to object.

Just wanted to say, judge signed off on mine this morning. They are going to send it certified to 3rd party that handles the garnishments where I work, and finally send off to AT&T to stop payments. Looks like I have to wait another week for that too. Took a week me sending it and judge signing it.

Still don't understand how it needs to go to this 3rd party, but oh well. It's just another way of making it hard for us, fuckers

Once the AG receives the notice it will take a minimum of 3 weeks to process the paperwork and send notice to your employer's HR dept. Expect this to take 5 weeks and be happy if it is less. They just don't care about us.

                    Makes no sense...

I got full custody of my daughter mid last year and still had to pay for a couple of months child support because it was still being "processed". I even hand delivered a signed copy from the judge removing the child support to the AG office.

I received a check back for $00.25 after overpaying over $1k. Makes no sense.

Now I am going through hell and back trying to put my daughters mom on child support. I doubt I'll ever see a penny, I just want her to know she has that responsibility and make sure she won't get any income tax refunds. I actually received quiet a surprise this year when our cpa filed our taxes and advised us that my ex had already filed her taxes claiming my daughter for 2015 and I had submit everything to the IRS showing proof etc. that she was already living with me since April last year.

Pesky system doesn't give a shit about responsible fathers and leans only to assist mothers, no matter how much of a deadbeat they are.
