After 12 yrs there is light at the end of the tunnel. My son is graduating early and turning 18 one month b4 finishing school. This in Johnson county. I want to get my ducks in a row to terminate child support because he finishes school this October. Who do I contact to find out what needs to be done? Domestic Relations Office? I have no clue where to start. Anybody here been through this? Input is appreciated

Child support question

I am going thru this now.
I called the Attorney General, and after talking to different people there, found out that since I had an attorney involved, I had to go thru the district court for the county that child support was filed in. I called up the district clerk for my specific county and I had to print off couple forms to fill out, which one of them had to have judge sign off. Then I have to take the signed forms and send them to HR for where I work(this step depends on company).
If you did not have lawyer involved, I believe AG can help guide you where to go from there.
Depends on your situation. My bro-inlaw just went thru this, but he didn't go thru court or anything. I think he went thru the agency direct and didn't have to do any forms, but also he is self employed as well.Last edited by Rafa; 06-13-2016, 03:52 PM.

Well there is always an attorney involed during a divorce. But ours was uncontested an child support was set up thru the state. Tried calling AG, as soon as it transferred me it would disconnect. 8 times in a row. Guess I will try tomorrow an see how it goes. Thanks for the input

When the kids turn 18 and have graduated high school the obligation to pay child support to the mother ends at the end of the month when both conditions are met is how the AG's office explained it to me. It should end automatically at that time if collected by the AG without special conditions or unpaid back support.
Surprisingly, it worked exactly this way for me twice. I didn't trust the system to work flawlessly and did call multiple times.

I believe that the HR department cannot change the deductions to the AG office. The AG office will have to send a new notice to the HR / Payroll Dept. for this to happen at time of change. That is how it had to work in my case anyway.

The AG's office personnel never miss a chance to try to kick a man down. Many years of child support paid on time here and they were always disrespectful and rude, even when their department clearly screwed up. There were 2 people that I had contact with there in all of that time who were respectful and helpful.
Always got stuck on hold for a while also when calling.

In my case, only way that deductions would be stopped would be by signed order from judge. So i had to get forms to fill out and send them back home where I filed. Once judge signs the order, I have to get copies of that and send them to my company. I don't need to go thru AG, but they got me in right direction, after talking to multiple fucking people. I had to call multiple times to county clerk too to get right forms. Agreed motion and order forms. That and had to get the ex to agree on stopping the payments too. Lucky she was cool and signed forms in front of notary b
X2 on screwing me around to get this taking care of
I had to get forms from

Fuck the OAG, one of the most incompetent organization I've ever dealt with. I've got 3 more years left on payments. I'm already getting everything in order for that day my son graduates. He'll turn 18 and graduate at the same time. After that, I'm going to take him to his first titty bar to celebrate.Originally posted by talismanI wonder if there will be a new character that specializes in bjj and passive agressive comebacks?Originally posted by AdamLXIf there was, I wouldn't pick it because it would probably just keep leaving the game and then coming back like nothing happened.Originally posted by BroncojohnnyBecause fuck you, that's whyOriginally posted by 80coupenice dick, Idrivea4bangerOriginally posted by Rick Modena......and idrivea4banger is a real person.Originally posted by JesterMan ive always wanted to smoke a bowl with you. Agreed should end automatically. But I have friends that had to pay 2-3 months after due to the lag in the AG work force. I just want to be on top of things
