  • What do you use for a music source on your phone?

I've been using Pandora on my Iphone, which sucks, I think. While I'm not asking for the radio versions of songs (ie rap, where lyrics get explicit), I don't want the live version, which is 50% of what Pandora offers.

I've just bought a bluetooth receiver (infinity prv250, and 4 kicker marine 6.5's; debating on amp) for my bay boat, and I want to have good music options.

    Token pics of boat:

Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."

There is a setting for explicit lyrics. Not sure there's much you can do about the live tracks.

I only choose/create my stations by artist. FML, tell me there's another option.

Pandora, I don't have any idea what you're talking about referring to lyrics or live music. It has never been a problem with me, I hear every studio version fuck.

Pandora I have tons of stations and I've heard the rotation on ever single station so many times, I literally never hear anything new on it.

I like sound cloud and youtube music , but refuse to pay. XM is what I listen to 90% of the time now since I renewed it for 20.00 for 5 months i think..

Iheartradio is good too, really its about what do want to hear?

Pandora - has well known music only, rotation is repetative.

Soundcloud - You won't find every artist on here, but some artists have tons of stuff and people have interesting playlists. I actually have a couple of likes on a few of my playlists I just discovered a week or so ago, so you can look at those peoples playlists and go down a rabbit hole of music discovery. Also good for workout music and party background music.

iheartradio - sometime the reception for me is spotty but a buddy swears by this app. I hate ads so that is super annoying to listen to "normal" radio. Other than that very solid.

Youtube music - for some of the artist I like, theres different playlists that show up here vs. normal youtube app. This is still newish to me so Im still discovering new content, but I've also exhausted a few artists playlist, (so discovered all the music there displayed) but I've heard some new things not so obvious on regular youtube doing the same exact search.

A buddy has been using spotify forever as magnus suggested would be worth looking into too, I don't know what its strengths are over the others..

Really you just need a mix. Some are lighter on bandwidth than others which may help while rocking around on your boat.

I currently use Slacker. I suspect it works similar to Pandora but I got rid of that shit due to all the ads so it may have changed. Slacker is pretty good, you get 6 skips an hour and a diverse selection but it can be repetitive
