  • Warranty phone calls.

I have told these idiots 100 times to quit calling me. WTMF and how do they get my number? Even on my FX4 that I bought extended warranty on they call me. Who ever distributes your number to them should take a bat to the head.

I did learn a new trick the other day. When they identified themselves as national warranty what ever, I kindly asked them what their address was. I have had three of them get all offended and explain that is confidential information. Then when I tell them I need it for the law suit they hang up on me or shoot me to their supervisor that never answers and I get disconnected. I asked one the other day why the f#$7 would anyone give out payment info if they can not provided a address.

I also like how if you call some of these idiots back it gives a weird message like no one is available. A lwayer friend of mine said it was like 1500 a call if you are on the do not call list. I was, but doesn't that expire? Either way if they keep it up I just may give it a shot. Never hurts to have a pro bono lawyer friend.

I still get calls on vehicles I don't own. And on multiple occasions, I have had them excuse themselves from the call by telling them the vehicle has over 400k on it. This was after I seemed very excited they were offering me a warranty.

Why don't you add the number(s) to your call reject list? Every smart phone has this feature, as well as your home phone service provider. Frontier/Verizon/AT&T/Vonage, etc..all have a call block feature in your account manager. I know this because I have about 50 or so numbers in mine. Some calls will occasionally get by due to Caller ID spoofing, but it has definitely reduced the volume of calls.

Secondly, hiring a lawyer for this would be a monumental waste of time. Everybody sells your phone number to third parties. Your phone company, car dealerships, department stores, credit bureaus, lenders, social media, smart phone apps, etc..

Data brokerage is big business. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do add your numbers(s) the National Do Not Call List and utilize the call block feature on your phone. Some people get a Google phone number to use on forms and whatnot to shield their home phone number.

So what recourse does one have when we're still harassed after being on the dnc list?

This is what I do for just about every purchase. That way the call gets screened and I can block it as necessary. The number spoofing has gotten worse and worse over the last few years. Nowadays if I don't recognize the number I send it to voice mail and then google the # later.

You can file a report, which goes into a massively overloaded inbox that'll get deleted when the server is full. I just put the phone on mute, set it down and eventually they hang up. If you waste their time eventually they'll stop calling.

I get a lot of crap calls, but none about warranties. However, as mentioned repeat offenders I just block.

The government must be the biggest offender of data brokerage. I recently signed up for TSA Precheck and have been harassed non stop by telemarketing firms, warranties, free cruise packages, free home alarm...etc since that time.

I just block the number but it is frustrating handling the BS calls
