  • Bang for buck lawn tractor or zero turn...

Purchased a home on 3/4 acre and want to get a riding mower.

Any recommendations on zero turn or lawn tractors?

Any strong reasons NOT to go with this deal?

3/4 of an acre doesn't need a riding mower.

I would say depends if you have lots of trees, bushes, etc, that you need to mow around. I have LOTS of trees on my 1acre and I have a tractor. I wish I got a zero turn, but I really starting to like tractor more. I bought a heavy duty wagon that I can tow with riding mower with ease. I think it's easier to hook up a wagon to tractor than it is on ZT. Might take me an extra beer longer on a tractor doing figure 8's on my trees, but now I'm used to it. hahahah

Oh, and 2200 is not expensive for a decent 0-turn

That's nice. I value my time and am getting one. I've mowed this lawn on foot and on a riding mower. Easily half the time if not 1/3rd.

            Bought my mom's old house.

The one you posted is a good deal. My dad just bought one of these about a month ago.

He was leaning zero turn but didn't want to spend the extra cash. I'm not going to tell him about this. Lol

Just remember: it's not how fast you mow; it's how well you mow fast

Zero turn the way to go. They are usually more expensive than regular riding mower. My son bought one for his 1 acre+ corner lot lawn. His lawn has a few small trees, so it can get done fast in no time. He came over to my 3/4 acre+ corner lot (with detached garage, 5 trees, 8 ft. fence, etc. and got it done in no time flat. Wish I had one. I have a Sears 42 inch. width regular riding mower. It's OK, but after trying his zero turn, its no contest!

I bought a Gravely from the guys at Outdoor World.

The zero turns that the home improvement stores sell are crap. Stamped decks, cheap components, and no support if there's problems. If you need warranty work, Home Depot won't work on it so and have to take it to a local mower shop, you'll get crappy service because you didn't buy it there.

I'd spend a few hundred more and get a nice one that will last a couple of decades.

My dad used to have a lawn tractor, now he has a zero turn. He is also extremely cheap. That should tell you everything you need to know.

                            Zero turn all the way.
                            I bought a Husqvarna 54 inch. I like it.
Don't forget if you buy at Lowes ir the Depot, you can always find a 10% off coupon. I bought mine on sale closeout and used the coupon. Saved couple hundred.

Dad bought a Ferris from Four Brother's out in Royse City and it's been invaluable. He has 4 acres that he mows half of, then he mows my grandmother's 3 acres, and my other grandmother's 2 and he's done lickety split. The ease with which it gets around trees and corners is amazing, and it's considerably faster than the tractor he did have.

It's either an 18 or 25 HP V-twin, can't remember with a 60" deck. I think he spent some coin on it, but the time savings has made it worth it.
