How to title a HMMWV?

Say one were to pick up a de-mil HMMWV. What would it take to drive it legally? It is possible?

An old coworker, who's now an international sales guy at IronPlanet, and I were just having some lunch beers and he was telling me what the average sale price is on the HMMWVs they sell... and what their minimum sale price is (scrap value).

It's been a few years since I was looking at surplus military stuff, but IIRC it's bassically saying you are not going to sell it overseas.

Yeah, it's basically stating that you're the end of the line for that piece of equipment and that you won't be transferring it to non-US-citizen in the future.

Highschool buddy's dad has two on his ranch in south texas that are both plated, inspected, and insured... I'll try and remember to ask next time I see him. We've had the conversation before because I desperately wanted one for a lake/hunting cruiser (and still do) but I've never had the cash available when I came across one for decent money. If memory serves he made it sound like it certainly wasn't as easy as walking in and transferring a title but wasn't the end of the world either.

How serious are you contemplating going down this road?

A/Cs are not the best, transmissions get hot fast, very uncomfortable ride depending on the seats. The newer redesigned seats are okay but the older ones were like sitting on a cushioned milk crate.

Get one with an SF97 and got to the tax office. Register it as a Former Military Vehicle. Call it a day.

About as serious as that fucking Indy roadster I keep putting other shit in the way of my toy plans (multiple moves, new jobs, school, etc), but this seems easy enough to just buy and piss people off with. I really couldn't give two shits about AC or seats. The last car I built had two wheelchair seat pads directly on a wood floor and you had to have earplugs to drive for any appreciable distance. I'm not a proud man. I just want something to fuck around with... or weld a battering ram to... I don't know.
