One of my favorite work stories to tell is how I ended up in Hawaii for two weeks, working a total of 6hrs, being able to bill 85hrs the first week and getting my salary on work relief the following week.

I had a top floor room at the Renaissance Waikiki. I had a rent car. I had per-diem. etc. etc.

Got married over there and gave my sister the hotel and rent car for five days while we honeymooned at the Kauai Marriott on hotel points, rented a jeep on National points, etc.

It's a great story that I afforded myself and don't carry a single bit of guilt over. And I carry a LOT of guilt over a LOT of stuff in my life! LOL

    Have a good one

Good deal man! I feel even fucking greater now! LOL... I was doing the math on how fucking easy it was to collect that nice stack of easy money.

Yours is a great story, Forest! Guys like us have to kick ourselves every once in a while when shit like this happens, because in my case I lost my wife's car for 5 days once.... couldn't explain why I was walking around with a set of keys at 1 PM in North Arlington...

And in your case, I remember you when you were still selling doughnuts in your neighborhood. LOL.

I think you sold me a 3" stainless one, haha

Anyway, years later we patched together some kind of a life that can fucking enjoy and marvel at.

bro, I've actually got a story that rivals your 5day ambien fog that isn't even a year old, I just choose not to tell it... at least not until I've worked through it a little more

was that the one where Jesus Christ is jackhammering Mickey Mouse in the doo-doo hole with a lawn dart as Garth Brooks gives birth to something resembling a cheddar cheese log with almonds on Santa Claus's tummy-tum?

What's funny, is it's not much different than celebrating a large tax return. It's your money to be had, just with near perfect timing to be double-dipping. I surely aint mad at ya though.

When my company was bought late last year, they had to pay out our PTO balances rather than transfer them, and here in CA they can't take the accrual away, so I had almost 400 hours saved up. Twas a nice pay day for sure.

Man, when I got my bonus checks last year, they had to split it up over 2 months because it was quite large. Having 2 months of this was nice. I dumped most of it into my dads home, love that guy so much.

I remember that. Then the following week I got laid off, went home with quite a bit of cash in the back, and just hung out for 3 months doing whatever the hell I wanted before getting another job. Being young with no responsibilities and some extra cash was awesome.

I put in my two weeks, got two more paychecks, got maried, honeymoon, and spent a couple weeks interviewing. I think I was off 5 weeks, paid for 4 of them.

The only time I have been remotely fortunate like this is getting 3 months severance and then coming back to the same job the first week after those 3 months.

I basically got a paid vacation and got a raise when I came back.

I got $59 back from my income tax. Does that count?

When I left the city I was working for to come to my current spot I cashed out exactly 1000 hours on sick and vacation. I was 300 over the limit but had my bi lateral hernia surgery and took FMLA for three months the year I quit. Perfect time to jet as anything over 1k they wouldn't pay me for. It hurt on taxes but was well worth it. Plus I took the end of October and all of December off. Where I am now they only pay for vacation but it is better than nothing. My first employer after 10 years was nill on paying for anything and the retirement was garbage.
                              Whos your Daddy?

I got a check for about $5K today from someone that I haven't worked for in over three and a half years. I love that sweet free money when it shows up!
