    Legally true but I was able to use that and a death cert for a few things after my dad's death on stuff in his name and no one was the wiser.

      With all of the insurance carriers I currently work through now, as well as all of the insurance carriers I have worked with/through in the past, they all require financial interest. Providing a death certificate and possibly a power of attorney is enough evidence.

      With the fact that the insurance carriers require financial interest, not all insurance carriers look and the ones that do, usually is at the time of binding the policy or at the time of a claim is when the issue arises.
