It's not allowance.
We actually don't disagree.. I agree with you 100% in principle, it's the intent of the law that doesn't (again, at least in some states).

Unfortunately I have been on all sides of this in my life. A child who received support, a parent who paid support, and a parent who received support.

      a bit of unknown info:

When I was 16, my dad and his wife split. I couldn't live with my mom since I had a protective order against her husband from when he beat the shit out of me when I was 10. My dad disappeared, I ended up with no place to go, and Chad's parents took me in. In my father's divorce hearing (that he didnt show up to) the judge pulled me into chambers to talk about what my options were. The bottom line was I had to either petition for emancipation, or go to cps custody. I told her I was going to petition for emancipation, and she threw me a couple bones, so to speak, in their divorce agreement. Since my dad didnt ever surface, I took what was left of his company assets, and the couple of vehicles, and sold them to cover my cost of living.

It was a goddamn mess, to say the least.

I could imagine! I knew about ending up with Chad, and why, but not the rest. I wouldn't wish shit like that on any kid.

Sorry, I've been out of pocket, the 4th was my "I'm dead" anniversary. It's direct deposit to my account. No muss, no fuss. They don't do paper checks any longer and I don't think they give you an option to do anything else. They like to know that it goes into a checking account that way they can seize control of things if they think you're mentally unstable.

I am wanting to know what kind of paper trail is leading to her so hopefully one day I could get some money out of her. My son is 19 and off at college and I would love to be able to give him the money so he could focus more on school.

They'd have to get my shrink to sign off on it and that's not happening. I'm crazy but I'm damned good with money and that's what matters.
