what causes oil canning in cars? the fox I bought has really bad canning on the roof and on the cowl area, but it has not been crashed and all the walls look good

The metal is too stretched and it can't decide if its going to be "in" or "out". The metal will have to be shrinked. I stud gun with a shrinking attachment may help.

Welcome to every fox body. If you are body working the car heat shrink like Shag stated. If not dynomat the hell out of the areas you can, it will reduce it for you.
