  • For you CHL Guys; Cell Phone Gun.

Company invents gun that looks like cellphone

The gun will be sold for $395.

MONTICELLO, Minn. - A Minnesota company is making national headlines for a gun that's not even on the market yet.

The start-up Monticello company, called Ideal Conceal, is getting a lot of attention for its double-barrel .380-caliber handgun. The reason why? The gun is designed to look just like a cell phone.

Saw that earlier.. Cool idea, but as fast as cell phone styles change and are updated, it will probably look outdated before they get it to market.

It makes me wonder if the true purpose is to carry in a gun free zone. Like taking one into a court room. Or perhaps it's to ease the public eye by lawfully carrying without people freaking out cause they see you holstering a gun.

my co-worker brought up a semi-plausible situation...what if these do become mainstream? Will the police then mistake my cell phone for a gun?

Hell, wonder what the backlash (red tape) would be like if you were to shoot someone in a gun free zone...not that I want to try but certainly curious.

I don't see any sights, and with only two shots, it's more of a derringer: last second close contact gun. And to Gtracer's point, not that fast to deploy if you gotta flip the handle down.

It would be almost impossible to prevent people from carrying them in a gun free zone. The only way to enforce it is with stronger penalties.

I see it more as a ease the mind kind of thing. That or for some hipster that wants to carry a gun. The normal people that carry are going to stick with traditional guns. I'll keep my XDS although that's not to say I wouldn't buy one of these just to have.

I mean, as soon as you take it out you've broken the law, correct? Unless you're about to use it.

I think it would fall under the ATF definition of Any Other Weapon and would thus be an NFA-regulated item:

Hmm. Does that make it no longer a "deadly weapon"?
I was trying to find it in the Texas Penal code but I couldn't.

More power to those who want it, but in the modern wussy society....

                            Thief steals it

Blows brains out when trying to make a call with/use it

Family sues you since it looked like a phone that poor innocent johnny was trying to use to call home for lunch money

It transforms into a pistol in order to be used, so AOW doesn't apply.
