I've seen them run VERY low 14s stock. That's hauling for a full size truck.

Right lol. I'm waiting for my warranty to expire before I throw a pipe and tune on mine. It's quick enough for me though, I got a bike and the wrx to go fast in.

Not fast. But this was the badass truck I wanted but couldn't afford when I was a teenager. And would like to eventually own one.

I actually preferred the look of the 454ss when I was looking at them and Lightnings. The interior is the deal breaker for me though.

I've really enjoyed the 3.5L Eco with 3:55 gears, even going to almost 35's on it it still gets up and goes. If it wasn't for that pesky warranty it would be real tempting to tune it.

In stock form those trucks were turds. It was because the heads were shit on those 454s. In 1989 my stepdad ordered an extended cab Silverado with a 350 and 3.73 gears and it would just barely squeak out a win on those trucks. I raced many of them.

They seem to be holding power very well for the most part. Exciting for the GT and Raptor.

I had both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Lightning and I miss the Gen 1 WAY more.

I just put a bigger cam in a 95 lightning longblock and dropped it in my 69. It should be a torque monster.

Fun fact: The SRT-10 is still sitting there, spinning its tires.

Nice. Mine was a mild H/C with a GT40 intake. Ran a 100 shot for a little bit and took it off. Had no traction. Ran mid 8's on motor (which I though was fast back in 06). lol

I have a 454/4L80e out of a 99' 3500HD I want to put in a 2002 1500 single cab short bed and create my own 454SS....with a LOT more power. Just have to put a different rear axle in it. Figure I can build a nice 600hp BBC pretty easy with Fuel injection and have a nice daily driver parked next to my 87' burban with a 500hp SBC. Screw all these new cars with LSx's!!! LOL!

                              9 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 6.2 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque 6 seconds

Buddy of mine just put a Magnacharger on his '15 Denali and it seems pretty quick for all the weight its throwing around.

Those were some kick-ass trucks for the day...too bad they had an 8.5 compression 454 that made like 220hp and only a 3 speed trans
