What happens when you go to register your vehicle and you had an expired registration ticket? I do remember them asking if you got a ticket during the expired time when I was late before, but I didn't have a ticket.

I've paid the ticket, and need register now, but just wondering what I am in for when I go into the tax office.

If you've handled the citation, I wouldn't worry about it. I would take documentation with you to show that you have, in fact, handled the citation if asked.

I think that is why they ask. So they can verify that the fine has been paid before issuing new stickers.

I wonder how they realistically handle those things... I've gotten many a registration handled with a severely overdue inspection citation on my record... so overdue, I was arrested for the warrant almost 7 years after I mailed them verification of inspection and the $10 dismissal check to cover it. That was a fun night.

P.S. - Murphy Texas sucks out loud. Waste of a city.

technically, if you have been driving while it's expired, you have to pay extra. The only way that can be proven is if you have gotten a ticket.

In Freeport, NY the town of 43,000 paid $750,000 for the system, which has tracked 17 million plates in three months. In that time, Freeport has impounded more than 548 vehicles, issued 2,008 summons, returned 15 stolen vehicles to their owners, and arrested 28 people... the system is so successful that the police chief wants to expand his staff of 95 by seven more officers to keep up, after overtime costs increased by 20 percent. Dissenters say the officers are being kept busy by writing up minor offenses such as expired tags.
