I have a couple too. Choosing the best lawyer for you is just as hard as finding a good car deal. They're not cheap and all claim to have your best interest in mind.

I have 3-4 that I became friends with over the years, so If I do end up in a tight spot, I can make a phone call. I try to avoid being in those, though.

Lucky you. My guy isn't a traffic lawyer, he's a criminal lawyer. His minimum fee is $500. I'm probably one of his only "traffic" customers.

I've dealt with $100-200 traffic lawyers in the past. Some they get dismissed, some get reduced, some you end up on deferred, etc. etc.

With this dude, I never have to sign a single document. I never go to court. I'm never on probation. I'll continue to pay for guaranteed results every single time so that if I do end up getting a citation while out of town, I still have a chance (with a lawyer that I don't know) at keeping the ticket off my record.

I've seen what this dude does with criminal cases. The dude has pull somewhere. I don't mind paying top dollar for that.

I have one of the best attorneys in DFW, next to me of course.

When someone tells me "you'll be hearing from my attorney" or "you need to contact my attorney" I always ask them for their attorney's name. Roughly 80% of the time they can't or won't give me a name. It's basically an idle threat for the purposes of ending the discussion.

I don't handle any criminal or family law, but have lawyers in my office that do. I handle a fairly wide range of civil matters, but mainly commercial/business related litigation. If I don't do it I've usually got the name of someone I trust that does. Feel free to contact me if there's anything I can do to help any of y'all.

I tell all my clients and friends that the last 2 people you ever want to have to contact are the lawyer and the undertaker. The main difference being that the lawyer has a chance of a positive outcome for his client.

I never thought I would be one of "those guys." But here I am, yes I have not one but 2 attorneys and use their cell numbers, not their office number because of various oil and gas leases and pipelines, right of way crap for various easements, TCEQ and now with a 4 lane going right thru the middle of my farm I stay in regular contact with him even though he is semi-retired, he said he will keep doing mine. I miss the days when it was just me and the cows and I was my own boss and answered to no one but them. Life is even complicated on a farm now. And of course Texas Law Shield.

At the office we use a big name national firm to do all of our outside work. I estimate that we probably pay them $20-30 million a year as our go to outside counsel. A side benefit of that is that they will represent executives for free in personal matters. And you can call them 24/7 for anything. If you are in jail in Mexico they will get you out. I have never had to even ask them about anything personal. Between them and our inside counsel, we have all bases covered for anything we need.
