A private citizen responding in this manner to protect his property would almost certainly face murder charges, since this alleged crime occurred before dark. Even after dark, said citizen would be held accountable for pursuing the suspect and killing him, and the fact that the deceased was 16 years old would also not look good before a grand jury. The unknown in this is did the alleged thieves produce a deadly weapon, and if so were there any outside witnesses who would testify?

It's my hard earned shit. Stealing is stealing.

I need 2 wood screws to fix my bed frame (I broke it fuckin'). I was walking through home depot last week and they had a drill 'test stand' going on with screws everywhere. The thought entered my head to pocket two and fix my bed. I honestly couldn't even bring myself to steal 2 single wood screws.

I think we have all made mistakes of some sort or the other.

I saw the video of the cop ramming the kids car. The kids didnt know an off duty cop was following them. It would be wrong for an on duty cop to ram the car. Sounds personal.

Univision last night at 10pm reported that the hospitalized "victim" had also been shot through his hands... Defensive wounds if you will.

One less POS we have to worry about in DFW. If you don't steal/commit crimes, chances are you won't die like this kid did.

Why does that mean defensive wounds? Granted, I didn't see the report, but just because someone was shot through his hands doesn't to me scream defensive.

I don't remember anything in the law saying you can only defend your life property after dark.

It is a defense against prosecution. My post didn't mention anything about "life" with respect to property, rather only mentioned protecting property. This has been in the CHL statutes since the beginning regarding use of deadly force.
