You know that offshore company that I worked so hard to get into at the end of 2014 and finally got in?
Turns out that it's not all it's cracked up to be. Lots of reasons why. I'm thinking of leaving it.
I've been doing my current offshore gig a month at time, then off for a month. On my off month I have been doing contract work for my previous company installing plate rolling machines and training customers how to use them.
It's been a fucking win / win for me. Shit I get paid the whole time by my full time job whether I'm on or offshore. I get a bonus for being offshore every day gone. Then work for my previous company on the side.... you can imagine how great of a deal it is...
But my previous company is now after me in a big way to come back full time and I am thinking seriously about it.
In the end I would be taking money out of my pocket, but I think I would be happier. The offshore industry is full of fucking idiots, and that oil money covers of a lot of really stupid management decisions, some of them that directly affect me.
I love those rolling machines, and they are after me in a way that makes me have tons of negotiating power. They came at me with a salary that was twice my original salary, but I am telling them I want more.
The only thing I love about my current job is the money. I can't stand anything else about it, except beautiful sunrises / sunsets, and satisfaction of operating on my own, learning cool new things, etc.., but if I need tech support or management help it's non existent. I build up resentments like you would not believe.
