Fuck. I looked up another news source.

A North Texas police department has identified the 29-year-old officer who was fatally wounded in a shootout with a suspect Tuesday near an elementary school.

      Yep, both deceased.

Don't we have a member here with a brother who is with the Euless PD?
Not going to mention his name for obvious reasons.

*EDIT* Disregard. That would be Hurst PD

Dammit. Pissed that a cop had to die. I run to that park every once in a while and sometimes take my boy there. Even rode back to where they were shooting. Guess I need to bring the gun now. There are some shitty apartments not far from there that likely had something to do with it. On both ends.

Leave it to the black man to be first to respond?.

Saw the news hover above. Rethinking about living in Euless. My 'lady and kid car was broke into ( of course doors were unlocked) we live in a real good area too.

Don't expect to get away from the car theft no matter where you go. Happened to me twice here in Euless as well. Funny enough I think I left my car unlocked like a jack wagon both times. Put up a camera and have not had a problem in a long time.

To the people complaining about the militarization of the police, we've got police taking rifle fire in a park at 3 in the afternoon. This is terrible. Glad they gave it back to the guy.

Not sure how that would have altered this scenario.

What was the killer up to before the police arrived on scene?
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

They were responding to shots fired, so up to no good it would seem

I agree, but just saying in the grand scheme of things that scenarios like this are why the level of militarization is going up.

Still a poor argument for 'militarization', IMO.. Linking that topic to this situation would be no different than the left using this as justification for 'gun control'.

This is a terrible situation but to suggest this is indication that gun violence is increasing, or that 'more needs to be done', is still a knee jerk reaction. Fortunately there has only been one other officer to die in the line of duty in Euless (based on news I saw, anyhow).

                                RIP to the officer.
