Ill be home shopping in about a year from now. I plan on spending about 120-130. If I can come in under that it would great but that is my limit. I only want a 3bdrm though. I don't need a large house when its just me.

            i LOVE anna.

hopefully that joint doesn't turn into the new mckinney or some shit.

i got a crew out there that sure knows how to party and they always rub it in my face how cheap their pads are. nice place.

Looks like a decent sized house for a new family. The garage looks ready to go and the floor plan isn't too bland. I see some updates in your future.

Anybody else hate lazy people that can't spare the time to paint behind refridgerators, stoves, washer/dryers, etc? I'm sure you'll be repainting whatever house you get, but it was just something I noticed.

$150,525 would buy you something nice in just about any city that's part of the metroplex.

Nate sold me my first house less than a year ago and i couldnt be happier.

Best advice, figure out what you can afford first without getting house poor. Without a doubt, you're gonna spend more than an apartment so use that as an initial spot for your comfort level I bought at 135k and am at about a 1100 / month for a 1500 sq ft which was double the size of my old apt but only a few hundred more a month.

There are a lot more bills that you'll have that you aren payin now, so plan for that as well.

The biggest frustration i have is all the stuff (furniture, art, gadgets) that i want to buy but have to budget for..

My first house was $126,500. My monthly payment was $1231, but that was back when rates were 8 3/8. As Jedi said, buying a house is great, but the stuff you want to fill it with is not cheap as well...

Aim more for square footage and location, than compare the price per square footage based on that location. I would at least shoot for 2K square feet at a minimum.

I say try and stay under 130k.

Most first houses are 5 year houses. You will figure out what you want in a home once you buy one and live in it for a while. Be smart with updates to the home If you do any at all.

Living in the country is the best. Nobody to mess with you, and you can do what ever you want.

My dream home is a mile or two out of town 20-40 acres. Nice 4 br with a finished basement. Big shop, and a couple nice outbuildings.

my first place fresh out of the Marines in 1998 was a 1000sqft 2 bedroom 1 bath house built in the 50's that I bought for $45,000.

Everytime I make the mortgage on the one we are in now I wish I had that house back but only for brief second.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I paid $285,000 for mine, but right now Im sitting on atleast $80,000 in equity...so my advice..dont get attached to one house, and dont be afraid to lowball...and do a little research (disney is building a resort about 2 miles from my place)

My first house was just under 160k and I can't wait to move into a bigger place. Granted houses in Allen are much pricier than McKinney, Anna, Melissa, or other towns in this area, I still can't wait to sell this place or rent it out in a few years and buy a 225-250k place if not more. I wouldn't say 130k is too low for alot of places but it all depends on location and many other factors. I also don't want to repair shut so I had to live in a newer house.
