I did. Guy took a Cesna from Waco to Sulphur (not playing, evidently his friend needed hours on his flight time) and he brought a rental out to look at it. He took it for a 10 minute trip and came back and all of a sudden every buzzer was going off, check engine, service 4x4 and service transmission light was on and it wouldn't come out of 4x4 high. I had not had any problems with it before he drove it so I think he did something to it but I wound up sending it home with him.

I brought it home to unload the toolbox (I met him in town so he could climb under it and not get dirty) and the transmission wouldn't shift and it fought me every step of the way. When it left my house though? I heard it hit every shift point like clockwork.

A big exhaust tip serves no purpose other than big-tip-ricer-diesel bragging rights. However, a bigger more free flowing exhaust system helps to move EGT heat out of a diesel more than anything....especially on those OBS trucks that didn't have intercoolers on them. Some performance gains of course too, but fairly minimal in most cases. The downpipe on those trucks is the single most restrictive piece in the factory exhaust system.

Feel free to PM if I can answer any questions....I was a dealership wrench on those era trucks when they were new, and I've owned a number of them over the years.
Thank you. I didn't think there was a reason for it but again, not a mechanic, just someone who loves things with engines.

Cant you just get a rebuilt title... it won't be salvaged anymore, but it will state rebuilt. That's how most states work.

The way to get it changed from Salvaged to rebuilt, is to repair the vehicle's damage first. Then in Kansas you get it inspected by the Highway Patrol. They then give you the paperwork to submit saying the truck is roadworthy and the title goes from salvaged to rebuilt.

It currently says "Rebuilt Salvage - Damaged"

its a 26 year old ford truck. its not going to take much for it to be considered "salvage" if you are speaking in terms of the insurance world.

A new column from a junkyard would probably be cheaper than paying at minimum an hour labor to fix it at the dealer

How much did they charge you for the estimate

The estimate is usually $70. I'll know when they call me with the list.

All of you guys are in the metroplex, I'm out in Cooper. I put 6 tires on her today and cruised out there. They're going to give me a list of things to work on and have no permission to do more than that.

What did you spend on it? Crew cab? Found a 96 crew by my house with same miles.
                            Thinking about buying it.

Yeah, but why are you buying cars like this. Youre basically buying them blindfolded without knowingmuch about cars or titles. You took a dakota you bought to resell to this dealer too for ac work right.
