My mom always said " you never know how you're going to go, when it's your time, it's your time" Which is true... but I can tell you how I'm NOT going to die. It won't be jumping out of an airplane.

Buddy of mine is up there. Said the chute half deployed. They aren't sure why he didn't pull the reserve. It was his 650th jump. They careflighted him and as of now he is still alive.

Can't worry about everything. Everyone has to go at some point, might as well have some fun while doing it. In my life I could be killed in a number of different ways. Anything from a car falling on me to my SCUBA regulator crapping out while I am underwater. If you really think about it, I am willing to be that there are 10 things in your daily life that could end up killing you.

In the end, some random ass disease that I had never even heard of snuck right up on me and nearly killed me. I don't worry about little shit like a potential sky diving accident any more.

I'm not doing any event to where I get to think about how I fucked up before I die. That is a long ass time to fall while knowing you're fucked.

See, I would skydive in a heartbeat. Just haven't gotten around to it yet. I know bad shit happens, but it's so rare, that I'll take that chance.

But 650 jumps? This guy was really pushing it.

That's a low number for a serious hobbyist. I went two years ago and the guy I jumped with had over 5k jumps. There were other folks in the plane with considerably more.

Our chute (tandem) took several seconds to open. When it finally did, he screamed to me "that was a close one".
