I recently tried and it caused tension for a while. We have since gotten over it and have become pretty good friends, though. Now that I know her a little better, I don't want to date her. There are just too many differences that I would not be able to get over.

I'll play the devils advocate. It is so worth it if you know she's the one you want to spend the rest of your life with. I've known several couples that met at work and are happily married.
I did it at my job right out of undergrad...boned 4 girls from work in about a year. It's not good, everyone finds out, etc. I was still catching shit for it years later. Not worth it.
