On my Hondas the tire brand greatly reduced any road noise. Paying $86 a tire for good Michelins was tough when you could get a full set of four for $260 installed at walmart, but the Michelins were always dead silent
I guess you're a tire snob? Worse tires I've ever owned were Goodyear's and Pirelli's. Best tires I ever owned were generic "Radial GT's"- I'd have bought another set, but Discount tire stopped selling them. I think your tire prices are a bit dated, the Champiro's were $76 each, Michelins are $161 each- both in a 235/60/16

      define "best tires" tho.

I had a set of yokohoma AO32r's that lasted about 400 miles on the street. still consider them the best tire i ever had.

If you find yourself in the Mid Cities, bring it by the shop and let's see if we can isolate this issue.

Go buy some michelins. Firestone seem to be real noisy as do most cheap tires.

put some mud tires on it for about 30k, you'll never bitch about tire noise again after that.

Truck has 180K miles, I rebuilt the front suspension about 30K miles ago. The tires now have 6/32 tread remaining, appear to be wearing evenly, and no visible cupping. If you steer 20 degrees to the left, the noise goes away, on center, you have tire noise, turn 20 degrees to the right and it gets LOUDER.

Now I will say this truck has tended to cup the outside shoulder of the front tires since new- 15 years ago. It's not visible to the eye, but you can feel it with your hands. But rotations every 5K miles had usually kept the noise at bay. Although twice in the past, years ago - I actually replaced wheels bearings, the noise was so bad - and both times it wasn't the problem!
Have you tried getting an alignment?

No I've just never heard of champiro. I've bought a full set of Douglas tires from walmart and you can hear them roll down the road so I would advise doing research before doing a purchase

That's next. 38 psi in the tires quieted it down

Yeah, but does it feel like you're getting punched in the kidneys every time you hit a bump?
