Yes, it affects pregnant women, but not as a short term sickness. You understand this affects the fetus/newborn, right? Zika is linked to microcephaly.

Microcephaly is

complications may include:

Developmental delays, such as in speech and movement
Difficulties with coordination and balance
Dwarfism or short stature
Facial distortions
Hyperactivity

This isn't like SARS where it will infect people, they'll do their thing (get sick, live, die, whatever) and move on. This has the ability to affect the next generation.
