They let a law go through that remove the penalty from not having a front plate, but they've since fixed the issue and you now can have a fine up to $200.

I've never been stopped or cited for no front plate.

I've been stopped at least 3 times since 2001. Two in Plano. Once in Grapevine.

I am all for the toll roads, let the dog dicks who are in a constant hurry pay for those roads. A increase in the gas tax means that some dude filling up with gas in Maypearl is paying for new roads in Plano. Fuck all that, let the people who drive on them pay for them.

I do agree that they should be free once paid for, the horseshit with the DNT has gone on long enough.

This is how I feel. Why should someone in far west or east Texas have to pay more taxes for some asshole in Plano or McKinney to drive down a brand new paved highway.

So, if we stopped collecting taxes on Maypearl, the residents would be ok with their roads going to crap?

Just doing a little research on your example. Maypearl's population is 966. Are you sure those 966 people would generate enough revenue to support the roads in their corp limits? Also, do any of them use I35E or W?

I would be curious to see if the town in your example does or does not get more money than they put in. But even if they put in more than the town uses, it still ignores that the down is dependent on the roads coming in and out of it. I'm pretty sure Maypearl would die if there was no access to I35.

BTW, you may get your wish. As I mentioned in my earlier post, you may soon be billed only for the miles you drive. Just remember, the government is going to be tracking every movement of your vehicle so they know how much to bill you. Are you sure you want to go down that path?

I also like the flexibility, if I am in a hurry I can use it, if not I just go the cheaper route.

I hate toll roads and agree on the points of paying twice for roads with my registration and gas taxes. However, I plan around toll roads. That means occasionally longer commutes, but Ibplan for that because I do not want to pay to drive on roads when I am already paying to drive on roads. Unless there is somewhere around here that is land locked and surrounded by only toll roads (i am not aware if there is) then you can avoid driving on them if you wish to put forth the extra time. That said I wish they would either be free once paid for or disappear for a gas tax. Neither will happen and I believe we are headed towards a milesge tax on top of the gas tax and tolls. Someone posted about it above but I read somewhere that the bill was being worked on last session, I thought. Anyway I agree I think that is going to be what the politicians vote in.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

Billing for miles driven works for me, only put a couple thousand miles a year on all of my cars combined.
