I formed an LLC in Montana and registered my 03 Cobra (which has lifetime Montana tags) to it. I get bills every so often.

You skipped an important step; your Montana LLC needs to be owned by a New Mexico LLC.

It also helps that most of the motor vehicles that I own have the only plate blocked by something mounted to the receiver hitch and have never had my name attached to them.

I would actually disagree. We don't worry much about tolls on the east side of Dallas unless we are having to go north. Recently we had to drive up the tollway to a wedding in The Colony and took the tollway. I am thinking it was $9 for one trip up the tollroad. We did the trip twice so I got a bill close to $40. That is not the norm for us.

Fortunately, I'm out of the metroplex now. But on that note, there's not an expedient way to get to DFW airport where I'm at without going on 121 tollway. Nor a better way to get to Arlington without taking the tollways.

Tollroads, and traffic in general, is why I chose to buy my house in roughly the center of the metroplex 11 years ago (very near to the 183, 360 interchange). I figured that at worst I would only ever have to drive roughly half way across DFW, no matter where I work or where I want to go. Of course I had to sacrifice on neighborhood / house for the money, but it is well worth it IMO. It doesn't hurt that I have worked in Las Colinas for the last 16 years. 5 different buildings, 4 different companies, and 4 of those places are within sight of one another.

I used to have a 4 - 5 hour daily commute at my last job in CA, and that shit was a nightmare. 2 - 2.5 hours each way without major closure or accident. Distance was 41 miles one way. There was a toll lane available, but it was like $10 each way and was only about 9 miles of it. I only drove it for a few months until I started taking the Metrolink train (just like the TRE). That ran me $80 a week but only took 1hr 45min each way and instead of driving I could nap, work, or BS and play cards with other commuters.

Yes! Most days I am on the freeway less than a mile (Hwy 10 to the south airport exit). All back-roads from there and still only takes me 20 min. And 5 min of that is that small stretch of frwy! Unfortunately there just isn't a better way for that piece.

You're in Forney and work at home, of course you disagree. I drive 30,000+ miles a year and 85% of that is in the heart of DFW. Try going from East Dallas to SW Fort Worth in under an hour at any time of day, and let me know how that works out for you. For me to make the number of stops I have to make in a given day, it is impossible to hit all my stops, and hit them on time, without using mostly tollways.

I don't know where you're getting that they don't have any proof of usage. Every toll booth you pass through is date and time stamped, and since they can send a picture of your LP passing through a toll booth, I'm certain that if questioned, they can pull every image associated with a date/time stamp and booth location.
