this place is on the corner of 10th and red river and looks to be approximately 1 or 2 blocks west of 35. We will be staying a few miles north in a cheap hotel. Saw salt lick bbq on a food show a while back so ill have to hit that place up. Were thinking about making a 3 day trip out of the deal since my old lady is a teacher and has monday off. Im sure theres enough to do there to keep us busy.

Salt Lick is extremely overrated, but you'll have fun if you go. It's a kitschy place with beautiful surroundings. People enjoy the fact that you can eat decent BBQ, pop open your own beer, and possibly see wildlife (deer, rabbits, etc) darting through the parking lot. Cool experience to have at least once. It is B.Y.O.B., so take your cooler stocked with your favorite beer. Be careful at dusk or later, as deer cross the windy roads all over. They're fun to drive during the day, though.

About half the stuff I listed. Continental Club has been open since 1957 and has some great live bands, but it is small, so get there early if you want to get in. Home Slice and Guerros is just a quick walk further south. Guerros is where the chicks started out in the movie Death Proof. When Kurt Russel does the burnout in the Nova, she is looking out over Guerros patio watching him, and you can see Home Slice across the street.

Casino El Camino down off of 6th, great burgers and cool dive bar.
Hula Hut is good, but it's no different than any other Chuy's other than if you can get a place outside, which you can't now
I'm here this weekend, heading back tonight.
Salt Lick at the Salt Lick in Driftwood is 100 times better than catered, which Leah had. They also have one in Round Rock, but I heard it doesn't compare.
Good luck getting into Juan in a Million for breakfast, ever since it was on TV, there's a line around the building every weekend. There are other small dive Mexican places on every corner south of downtown, i'd recommend any of them.
I don't like Trudy's, never have. I'm also not a big fan of Magnolia cafe, that all the Austinites LOVE.
I haven't tried the place Brent mentioned yet, but it's on my list for sure, next time i'm in town.

Jackalope was good. But I hear they are somewhat inconsistent on the pizzas. They were good the last time I was thereOriginally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.
