Does it really? I have at least 6 'active' cards counting store accounts, and a few others that haven't been officially closed along with an open line of credit at the bank. I have a current balance on the cards (only 2) of over $22K. Want to know how much interest I'll pay on it? None. Balance paid in full every month. I use my cards for work expenses and get reimbursed. Before you start with 'living paycheck to paycheck' or revolving balance BS, know that I could pay that balance in full right this minute. It's not a way to stay afloat -- it's using a system in place to collect rewards. Oh, and my FICO is 842 if it matters.

Complaining about income inequality is not socialism either. I'll give you a different analogy. Within the same company, let's say a production worker makes $25K per year and a VP makes $100K. As the new year rolls around, the company gives out a 5% cost of living raise. One guy receives a $1250 raise and the other gets $5000. How is that fair? What about the following year when it happens again but the discrepancy is larger? Is milk more expensive for the VP than for the production worker? Gas? Why should the VP receive more than double the amount in a cost of living raise than the production worker? It's not merit based, so don't feed me anything stating that. The VP is already paid more for his higher perceived value. Abecx is talking more about how those in control aren't necessarily opening the doors for anyone else to come in to their group.

No and my rent isnt exactly cheap either, but I was referencing people that are paying $800 a month for a 2 bedroom, its hard for them to ever save up enough for a house without getting loan insurance.

I charge $650-$850 per month for a one bedroom one bath condo that are each around 800sqft; $800 a month for a 2 bedroom is cheap. I bet that every one of the people who you like to use as an example has cable, internet, a smart phone, and goes out to eat. If they gave up all of those things they could have their 20% for a down payment in no time flat.

I agree, but I think the rate of upwards movement is also slow. Companies act like 5% raises are some massive thing to be thankful about, but when you're paying employees so low to begin with, 5% isnt that much.

Start a company that gives 20% raises per annum and gives all employees the 20% needed to buy a home as a one time bonus just to show us neanderthals the "Right" way to run a business. Please get back with us in a year or two to let us know how that worked out for you.

I am not talking just minimum wage, I am talking all the way across the board up until some decent money. Only problem is, the fucking rich that pull all the strings in this country would just bump their shit up to match thus causing inflation. If you added to the bottom and middle, and yes subtracted from that poor bastard making 500k-50 million, the country would be a better place. I sure wouldn't want to cut into that guys third house on the beach so the guy working 80 hours a week could afford a decent house and a car. Again, how does the guy at the top making a million bucks a year affect your situation? I am asking again because no one seems to be able to answer that. You can say inflation but to me that is a flimsy argument because there aren't that many people who make that much money. Also, people who make less don't buy the same shit the guy at the top buys.
